The men were suing the American Cancer Society in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, claiming that the men’s health group and drug maker Pfizer, which makes Viagra, had made it difficult for them to take Viagra and sell it to the public.
The men’s health group called on the Food and Drug Administration to approve the drug.
The FDA approved the drug as well, and the group also said it was prepared to allow the drug to be used in combination with other drugs that the FDA approved to lower blood pressure.
The men also said they felt “very fatigued” and had lost interest in their sexual activities and that their health problems were “very unpleasant” to them.
Ricks and his colleagues claim that the men’s health group failed to warn the public about the dangers of using the drug. But the men also said the FDA’s decision was in response to the drug’s other side effects, including erectile dysfunction and the development of prostate cancer.
The FDA gave the men a month’s worth of notice and told them to stop using the drug, which they thought was safe.
